One-Pager: For Home-Concert Hosts

We can deepen connection and enrich community through music and togetherness.

The Music Building is launching a home concert pilot series in Oak Park. We’re connecting local, professional music creators with hosts like you to create meaningful moments of music and togetherness for your community of friends and neighbors.

What’s Involved

• You open your home to 15–30 guests, invited by you—not strangers, but your friends and neighbors—for an evening of music and togetherness.
• We help provide structure—a simple hosting template with checklists for everything you need, access to chairs and other needed equipment, and access to a local musician of your choosing from our roster.
• You and your community enjoy 45-60 minutes of chatting, and then a 45–60 minute set of music—something uniquely beautiful and alive to enjoy and experience together.

• We’re living in a time when local, human connection and honest, creative expression is more important, and rare, than ever…
• You are creating a space which tends to the deepest need of your community, and our world.
• You are directly supporting artists who live and breathe in the same places you do—the art they create has grown from the same soil and atmosphere as you and your guests—the music you enjoy together is not just the artist’s song; it’s our song. This is something that can be felt.
• You're giving your community a chance to slow down and breathe. We need this today more than ever, and it is becoming increasingly rare to receive it. You are bringing this deep need to the foreground, and offering a solution.
• You're giving your community an opportunity to connect in a way that is not weird or forced. This method of connecting has existed for centuries!
• When we come together like this, we realize, tangibly, that we are not alone, that we are safe, that we are alive—and these realizations change everything. We become grounded and more in tune with our own creativity and generosity. This is how the world changes for the better.

We’re looking for:

• Hosts with space for 15+ people in their home (basically home in Oak Park!)
• Champions of community and music
• People who believe that we are better when we come together
• Hearts that want to create something special, potentially world-changing
• We’re looking for you.
